Mixed Media Collage

My collage work often begins with copies of my original photographs, layered with vintage text and imagery pulled from old books, magazines, and even my high school yearbook. I also incorporate eco prints made from plant material, which lend an organic feel to the composition.

To create depth and texture, I manipulate the papers—sanding, chemically lifting ink, rusting, or drawing directly onto them. These altered elements are fused together with a hot iron onto canvas, wood, or high-quality paper. I often finish the surface with drawing or paint, refining the overall balance of the piece.

Some collages are intuitive material explorations, while others hold personal, political, or environmental meaning. I aim to create work that invites a longer look—encouraging reflection, connection, and curiosity.
