Encaustic Art
Encaustic is from a Greek word meaning “to heat or burn in”. Natural bees wax and dammar resin (crystallized tree sap) are heated and applied to the surface. I experiment with a variety of materials to create these one of a kind pieces of art.

Three panels each 6" x 24" x 1.5" Photos for bark and lichen transferred to the encaustic. Lichen is a composite organism that arises when algae and filaments of fungi form a mutualistic relationship. They depend upon one another for survival.
